Current Form

FC Hartlepool are still searching for their first league win of the season after picking up one point from their opening three matches. Liam Appleby’s goal against Boldon was only FC’s second league goal of the campaign, but last season’s impressive home record showed how difficult Grayfields can be for visiting sides.

Billingham Town have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, winning all three of their opening league fixtures. Victories over Seaham Red Star, Darlington Town and Chester-le-Street Town have lifted them into the early promotion picture, with Jake Toase’s goal securing another three points at the weekend.

Previous Meetings

There have been no meetings between the sides so far this season.

The corresponding fixture at Grayfields last season ended in a 1-1 draw. Fin O’Gorman opened the scoring for FC before experienced striker Paul Roddam levelled for the visitors to earn Billingham Town a share of the points.

The Challenge

Billingham Town arrive as one of Division Two’s form sides, combining defensive organisation with an ability to grind out results.

For FC Hartlepool, Tuesday presents an immediate opportunity to put Saturday’s disappointment behind them and return to the performances that made Grayfields such a difficult place to visit last season.

With another strong crowd expected under the lights, the hosts will be aiming to record their first league victory of the new campaign.
